Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun yesterday urged Japanese investors to invest in the country’s automobile, motorcycle, power and energy sectors.
A delegation, led by Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro) President Yasushi Akahoshi, held a meeting with Hamayun.
In the meeting, Humayun said: “Japanese investors have already invested in the country’s different sectors, including motorcycle and fertilizer. The government will continue its support to expand the investment.”
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral investment and cooperation in the industrial sector between the countries.
Jetro chief Yasushi Akahoshi said: “Japan is working with Bangladesh as a partner from the beginning. Our companies are marketing their different products, including consumer items, in the country with reputation.”
He also said that Japanese entrepreneurs were keen to increase investment in the country's industrial sector.
He urged the government to provide more supports to the Japanese investors to expand their investment in the country.
Humayun requested the Japanese entrepreneurs to invest in vendor development in the automobile sector. He asked the Jetro president to import skilled manpower from Bangladesh.
Among others, Additional Secretary of the Industries Ministry Begum Parag and Jetro Bangladesh Representative Yuji Ando were present at the meeting.
