These contactless credit cards come with a more secure EMV-enabled chip card and NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, which will spontaneously communicate with the contactless payment terminals to exchange needed information and proceed with the transaction

In collaboration with Mastercard, LankaBangla Finance Limited yesterday announced the launch of its first-ever EMV-enabled contactless credit cards (Titanium, Gold and Classic) in Bangladesh.

The launch further strengthens Mastercard’s commitment to the push behind cashless payments and to provide safer, faster and simpler payments options for consumers in Bangladesh, said a press release.

Rafeza Akhter Kanta, DGM of Bangladesh Bank's payment system department, was present at the event as special guest.

The EMV-enabled contactless Mastercard credit cards will make the payments experience quicker and more seamless by allowing cardholders to simply tap the card in front of a card reader or PoS terminal to complete the transaction, thereby eliminating any need for swiping or inserting the card into the terminal.

These contactless credit cards come with a more secure EMV-enabled chip card and NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, which will spontaneously communicate with the contactless payment terminals to exchange needed information and proceed with the transaction.

Khwaja Shahriar, managing director and CEO of LankaBangla Finance, said: “LankaBangla Finance is proud to partner with Mastercard to bring the company’s first EMV-enabled contactless credit cards to its customers.

"The latest in contactless technology from Mastercard will ensure a more secure transaction system for our customers. We believe this joint endeavor will facilitate convenience for valued cardholders with the transactional efficiency,” he added.

Syed Mohammad Kamal, country manager of Mastercard Bangladesh, said: “Mastercard celebrates this significant milestone by collaborating with LankaBangla. Mastercard is bringing the best in-class contactless technology for cardholders to experience faster transactions and greater convenience."
