Bangladesh sees 8.55% rise in export earnings in first month of FY19-20

The apparel sector, the largest contributor to the national exports, earned $3.31 billion, up by 9.7%, which was $3 billion in the same period in the last fiscal year

Bangladesh’s exports earnings in July, the first month of the current fiscal year, has risen by 8.55% to $3.88 billion riding on apparel sector.

According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data, Bangladesh in July earned $3.88 billion, up by 8.55%, by exporting goods, which was $3.58 billion in the same period a year ago.

The apparel sector, the largest contributor to the national exports, earned $3.31 billion, up by 9.7%, which was $3 billion in the same period in the last fiscal year.

Of the total export earnings by the apparel sector, knitwear products earned $1.68 billion, which is 9.89%% higher than the $1.53 billion earned during the same period in the last fiscal year.

Woven products earned $1.63 billion, up by 9.51% from $1.50 billion during the same period in the previous fiscal year.

The specialized textile sector saw a 45.58% growth to $13.48 million from $9.26 billion, while home textile products earned $66.09 million, up by 0.05%, which was $66.06 million.
