Airlines offers health package deal with Chennai’s Apollo

US-Bangla Airlines has announced it will offer Dhaka to Chennai flights, making them the first airline in Bangladesh to operate on the route. 

US Bangla CEO, Imran Ashif, said this at a press briefing held at the Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on Wednesday. 

Starting from March 31, Dhaka to Chennai flights will operate three days a week, with a transit stop in Chittagong.

Imran added that if customer turnout meets expectations, the airlines will offer a separate Chittagong to Chennai flight.

Initially, the Dhaka-Chennai flight of the airline will leave from Dhaka airport around 9:10am and from Chittagong-Chennai around 10:45am on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Expected arrival is around 12:45pm, Chennai local time.

The return flight will leave from Chennai to Chittagong at 1:30pm local time to reach Chittagong at around 4:30pm, and Dhaka around 6pm.

The Dhaka-Chittagong-Chennai route flight will operate on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft which can carry 164 passengers. The aircraft has eight business class and 156 economy class seats.

US-Bangla is also offering special facilities to customers, such as health and tour packages.

The CEO also said they have initially fixed Tk. 15,043 for a one way flight, Dhaka- Chennai, and the return is Tk. 24,223. 

The lowest one way fare from Chittagong to Chennai would be Tk. 16,045, and the return   flight, Tk. 26,225. These prices include all taxes and ‍surcharges.

US-Bangla CEO Imran said they are already operating the Dhaka-Kolkata flight. “But nowadays, many people from Bangladesh go to India for better treatment. Chennai is gradually becoming more popular for critical operations and surgery next to Kolkata.”

“Every year around 1.2m people from our country visit India for different purposes. Among them, around 20%  go only for health related purposes,” he added.

US-Bangla and Apollo Chennai sign health deal

A bilateral agreement has been signed between US-Bangla and Apollo Hospital, Chennai. The airline company has announced a health package at Chennai’s Apollo Hospital for Tk. 37,990 per person.

The package includes a Dhaka-Chennai-Dhaka return ticket, two nights and three days hotel service with complimentary breakfast, an  Apollo Master Health Check Package, free visa invitation letter, free doctor's appointment, and free airport pick-up.

An Apollo Master Health Checkup includes – Haemogram, Blood Sugar Test, Kidney Function test, Lipid Profile, Liver Function Test, Complete Urine Analysis, Stool Test, ECG, X-Ray Chest, Ultrasound of the Abdomen (Screening only), Pap smear (for women).

Senior Group Manager of Apollo Hospital, Chennai International Patient Division, Jithu Jose said they have a 20% discount on all types of health checkup packages for US-Bangla Airlines passengers.

“We also provide free medical opinion services to US-Bangla passengers, like  if anyone wants to see their report, but doesn’t understand where to go. In that case they are catered to within 24 hours, specially to find the relevant doctor,” he said.
