Many female farmers visited the fair got familiarized with the technologies
Agriculture Technology Fair-2019 wore a festive look as huge number of people from all strata including farmers’ community thronged the fair at Independence Square of the town on Friday afternoon.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) arranged the three-day fair launched on Thursday under the project of “Nutrition and Food Security Ensuring through Integrated Agriculture Development” in cooperation with district administration.
In the fair, a number of modern and latest agri-technologies are being displayed for the visitors through demonstration on the earth and multimedia projectors by the owners of the stalls.
On Friday afternoon, huge number of people from all sections particularly the farmers including female ones visited the fair with festive mood and got familiarized with the technologies.
Lal Miah, a farmer who came from Barobaldia under Malibari union of Sadar upazila, said they came to the fair to get acquainted with the modern agri-technologies which would help them to produce bumper production of the crops, vegetables and fruits.
They also learnt about the usage of AWD (Alternate Wetting and Drying) method by which Boro paddy could be farmed on the land with minimum irrigated water to get desired output, he also said.
“The presence of huge number of people in the fair is a good sign of the fair,” said Deputy Director of DAE Showkat Osman.
Deputy Commissioner Abdul Matin inaugurated the fair on Thursday afternoon and General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, District Unit, Abu Bakar Siddique was present as the special guest.
