Record Tk7.01cr VAT collected from DITF 2019

NBR collected Tk5 crore in revenues from last year's trade fair

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has collected a record amount of Tk7.01 crore in revenues through valued added taxes (VAT) from the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair 2019 (DITF 2019). 

Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Jewela Khanam Polly, assistant commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate of Dhaka West,  said that they were satisfied with the amount of revenue collected. 

"Revenue collection increased, compared to the previous year's trade fair," she added. 

NBR collected Tk5 crore in revenues from DITF 2018. 

Jewela also appreciated trader's for paying their due VAT, and cooperating with the government. 

According to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data, export orders received from the trade fair were: Tk166 crore in 2018; Tk243.44 crore in 2017; Tk235.17 crore in 2016; Tk95 crore in 2015; Tk80 crore in 2014; Tk157 crore in 2013; Tk43.18 crore in 2012; Tk25 crore in 2011; and Tk22.98 crore in 2010. 

According to EPB sources, products worth Tk88 crore were sold in DITF 2018, Tk113.53 crore in DITF 2017, Tk121 crore  in DITF 2016, and Tk50 crore in DITF 2015.

However, the total amount of export orders received from and value of products sold at DITF 2019 has not been calculated yet.
