As many as 11.6 million mobile phone users subscribed to 4G internet faster data service in last year, according to data of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
The BTRC handed over 4G licenses to Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi, and Teletalk in February last year.
The regulatory organization’s statistic also stated that the figure was 13.5% of total mobile internet users in the country, as of 2018.
The 4G service is currently available in all divisions, as well as 450 upazilas across the country.
As of December 2018, out of 91.3 million internet users in the country, 85.5 million are mobile internet users, according to the BTRC.
Besides, the number of 3G users has decreased during 2017-2018 fiscal year, after 4G services were introduced in February last year.
According to BTRC’s annual report, in February 66.5 million mobile internet users subscribed to 3G service, which decreased to 66 million in March, 65.6 million in April, 65.3 million in May, and 64.8 million in June respectively.
