Discussions were held at Agargaon’s Securities Exchange Bhaban
A delegation of the Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed companies (BAPLC), led by its President Azam J Chowdhury recently called on Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Prof Dr M Khairul Hossain, along with other commissioners and senior officials.
During the discussions, held at Agargaon’s Securities Exchange Bhaban, the officials of BAPLC recommended amending a number of sections incorporated in the recently gazetted Code of Corporate Governance, to facilitate better corporate governance of and by the listed companies of Bangladesh, said a press release.
BSEC representatives discussed the requirements of promulgating such a code, and took the points put forward by the BAPLC delegation positively. The BSEC chariman added that clarifications and changes will be put into effect , shortly.
The BAPLC president also thanked BSEC for allowing public listed companies to publish their annual reports on their respective websites and send electronic copies via e-mail, which was a long-awaited demand of the association. This measure will save substantial printing costs, which can then be transferred to shareholders via dividends from the savings made.
Among others, Commissioners of BSEC Prof Md Helal Uddin Nizami and Dr Swapan Kumar Bala, were also present at the meeting.
