FBCCI expresses concern over the transport strike

The statement said due to the transport strike the production of industries and factories has been severely hampered as the business establishment cannot get imported raw materials for their production

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has expressed its deep concern over the ongoing the countrywide transport strike. The organization has urged the transport workers to call off their nationwide strike, and end public sufferings.

The apex body of businessmen made the call in a statement issued on Monday.

“FBCCI is expressing deep concern over the ongoing work abstention of the transport workers across the country. The FBCCI believes that due to the strike, the livelihood of people is being severely hampered and economic activity obstructed” the statement said. 

The statement said due to the transport strike the production of industries and factories has been severely hampered as the business establishment cannot get imported raw materials for their production.

Besides, shipping of export commodities is also being obstructed and exporters are forced to send goods through cargo aircraft, the statement added.

People continue to suffer as the countrywide transport strike by Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation demanding amendments to the recently passed Road Transport Act entered the second day on Monday.
