Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said the government will take necessary initiatives to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) with Vietnam and other countries with potential.

“Reducing the cost of doing business is in the government’s active consideration. Bangladesh is moving faster in terms of trade and commerce compared to other South Asian countries.”

The minister told businessmen not to be too concerned as the government is thinking of reducing the cost of doing business by slashing source taxes and taking other initiatives.

He further said a congenial atmosphere is a must for doing business and now is the best time to invest more in industries. Bangladesh is now a role model of development in the world and by the year 2041 we will be able to be a developed nation if this growth momentum continues.

He said DCCI is going to organize an international conference, “Destination Bangladesh,” next month to showcase Bangladesh’s strength in attracting FDIs.*

Abul Kasem also said that in order to attract investment in the country we have to invest in infrastructure development.
