BSEC to amend Securities and Exchange Rules 1987
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has taken steps to amend the Securities and Exchange Rules 1987 in order to provide a legal base and guidelines for its panel of auditors. BSEC spokesperson Saifur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune that the commission hopes the guidelines will address past allegations that audit firms endorse faulty financial statements from listed companies without proper verification. “The regulator wants to revise and update the guidelines for its panel of auditors to improve their efficiency,” Saifur said. On Wednesday the commission formed a five-member committee in this regard, headed by BSEC Executive Director Forhad Ahmed.
