Walton, a Bangladeshi business conglomerate, has inked an agreement with a Nigerian firm to export 500 laptops.
SM Rezaul Alam, chairman of Walton DG-Tech Industries Limited, and David None, director of Western Bez Limited, signed the deal on behalf of their companies at a program held at the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith was present at the event as chief guest while Post, Telecommunication and Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar and State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak attended the program as special guests.
The finance minister congratulated Walton on signing the deal.
He said: “Walton has appeared as an exporter within a short time of manufacturing techno products.”
Minister Mustafa Jabbar said by exporting laptop, Walton was able to realize a dream and a desire of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The state Minister for ICT called on local and foreign firms to follow Walton’s example.
Walton authorities said they have also got export order from neighbouring country Nepal.
Besides, the procedure to export laptops to Bhutan and East Timor is also at the final stage.
