Tea industry‘s annual training starts

The 53rd Annual training on Tea has commenced at Bangladesh Tea Research Institute (BTRI) in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar. The training will continue till March 8. Assistant managers from 26 tea gardens are participating in the program. This year, 36 participants are taking part in the development of tea industry by acquiring science and field-based skills in the six-day training course. Ministry of Commerce Joint Secretary and Bangladesh Tea Board (Finance and Commerce) Member Mohammad Irfan Sharif inaugurated the training course at Sreemangal PDU Hall on March 3. Bangladeshi Tea Council’s Sylhet Circle Chairman Golam Mohammad Shibli, Bangladesh Tea Research Center Director Dr Mohammad Ali, tea scientist Mohammad Ismail Hossain and BTRI, PDU officials, garden owners, tea garden managers and tea industry leaders were present. The Bangladesh Tea Research Institute was established in Sreemangal in 1957. The training course was first organized in 1963. Originally, the training was a two-day course , but since 1990 the length of training course has been six days.
