Among the northern districts of the country, only Dinajpur has exceeded the stone production target in Madhyapara hard rock project.
The Germania-Trest Consortium (GTC), a non-government contracting company, has lifted about 90,000 metric tons of stones in 23 days by three shifts per day (excluding weekly holidays and government holidays) in February. Its average production is around 4000 metric tons per day. As a result, the production crossed the target set by GTC’s foreign mine experts.
Besides, development work and construction of new stopes going on in full swing. According to Madhyapara stone mines, production has been increasing every day since the non-government agency GTC began to lift stones at three shifts. As a result, the sale of Maddhapara Granite Mining Company Limited (MGMCL) is increasing.
As the quality of Madhyapara stone improves, its demand for construction of government and private infrastructure is so high that it is trying to supply to other contracting companies. Though the prices of stones have been increased, the demand for the stone has not decreased.
The mine authorities are hopeful of turning stone mining into a profitable business. Under the GTC, foreign mining expert teams, skilled mining workers and local engineers set up world-class machinery and equipment in stone mines.
