“We have got all the inquiry reports about five candidates initially selected by selection committee” said Finance Minister AMA Muhith while talking to the Dhaka Tribune.
He was talking to the Dhaka Tribune over the appointment of deputy governor on the sidelines of a seminar on Bangladesh capital market in Dhaka yesterday.
“The appointment of deputy governors is being delayed as the necessary investigations against the candidates were held up for sometimes. However, the pending appointment will be given very soon as all the reports on the candidates are now in our hand.”
“It is really difficult to select a candidate as many candidates are vying for the vacant BB position,” he added.
Muhith, however, hinted that the final one will be selected from the list of five candidates, which was prepared by the selection committee.
Bangladesh Bank’s DG post remained vacant for more than seven months after government had sacked two deputy governors – Naznin Sultana and Abul Kashem soon after the resignation of Atiur Rahman over the cyber heist on March 15.
Though the two DGs were removed, the government will replaced only one. Currently, the two DG of Bangladesh Bank SK Sur Chowdhury and Abu Hena Mohd Razee Hassan are now conducting all the tasks of the central bank.
