Fakhrul: Hasina is repeating her father's fault

Claiming that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman did a great mistake introducing Baksal in the country, the BNP has alleged that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also going to do the same mistake.

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the allegation while addressing a discussion organised by the National Awami Party at the National Press Club to mark Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani's death anniversary.

Curtains rise to Hay festival

One killed in BCL factional clash at SUST

A student of a private university has been killed and at least seven people have been injured in a factional clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit over establishing supremacy on the campus.

Dr Abdus Salam, assistant director MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet confirmed about the death to the Dhaka Tribune.

SUST closed for indefinite period

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) authorities have declared the university closed for an indefinite period, following the BCL factional clash that left one killed and seven injured.

The decision was taken at an emergency syndicate meeting of the university on Thursday afternoon.

Bernicat nominated as next US envoy to Bangladesh

The US Senate has confirmed the nomination of Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat as the next US ambassador to Bangladesh.

The nomination was confirmed by voice vote on November 19, according to the US Senate.

GP gets new CEO

Country’s leading mobile phone operator Grameenphone is getting its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rajeev Sethi.

Sethi will take up his new position from December 1, 2014, replacing the current CEO Vivek Sood.
