2,741 nomination forms submitted for 300 constituencies

A total of 2,741 nomination forms have been submitted for the 300 parliamentary seats in the upcoming 12th National Election, which is scheduled to be held on January 7 next year.

Shakib, Dastagir, Enamur, Anisul defy polls code

The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday issued separate show-cause notices to cricketer Shakib Al Hasan, minister Golam Dastagir Gazi and state minister Enamur Rahman for violating the electoral code of conduct.

More hostages released in extended Gaza truce

9 candidates to fight for each constituency

Despite protests and violent movements by the BNP and like-minded political parties against the January 7 parliamentary election, on average, nine candidates submitted nomination forms for each constituency on Thursday, the last day of the submission to participate.

BNP expels Shahjahan Omar over Awami League nomination

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Thursday expelled Barrister Shahjahan Omar for violating party discipline, after he submitted a nomination paper as an Awami League candidate for the Jhalakathi-1 constituency.
