‘Robber’ killed in Lakshmipur gunfight with police
An alleged robber leader has been killed in a gunfight at Tinarbari area in Charshahi Union under Chandraganj police station of Lakshmipur.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim, son of Fazal Mia, of Durgapur village under Dighuli Union under the same police station.
AL activist killed in Natore
An Awami League activist has been killed in a clash between two groups in Agpirail village under Itali union in Singra upazila of Natore district.
The deceased is Abdul Hannan 40, son of Abdul Karim, of the same village.
Two killed in Rajshahi road accident
Two persons have been killed and 10 others injured when a passengers’ bus collided head-on with a human hauler in Farhadpur area on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj Highway under Godagari upazila of the district.
The deceased were identified as Anarul Islam, 35, son of Moslem Ali, and Delwar Hossain, 40, son of Abdur Rahman. Both were the residents of Anupamnagar village under the same upazila, police and hospital sources said, reports BSS.
India beef lynching 'premeditated'
A commission of inquiry in India has concluded that the lynching of a man over rumours he kept and consumed beef was premeditated and not spontaneous.
A panel from the National Commission for Minorities visited the village of Bisada, near Delhi, where Mohammad Akhlaq, a Muslim, was beaten to death.
IMF approves $258.3 million ECF
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will soon release the sixth and the last installment of $258.3 million fund under its three-year Extended Credit Facility (ECF) for Bangladesh.
The IMF executive board on Wednesday decided to release the fund after completing the fifth and sixth reviews of Bangladesh's economic programme under the ECF, an IMF statement, made available on Thursday.
