2 cases over attack on Khaleda’s motorcade

Two cases have been filed with Ramna Model police station for the attack on the motorcade of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at Banglamotor in the capital on Wednesday. Md Babu Hasan, 26, who is also the sports secretary of BCL Shahbagh unit, placed a complaint with the police station, regarding the attack on Khaleda’s motorcade, at 11:30pm Wednesday, Ramna police station OC Mashiur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune.


SUST VC goes on leave amid protest

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Vice-Chancellor Prof Aminul Haque Bhuiyan will go on a two-month leave amid the ongoing protest in the university in demand of his resignation. The decision was taken in a syndicate meeting on Thursday morning. University's acting proctor Md Emdadul Haque confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.


23 given till April 29 for reply in Bergman matter

The International Crimes Tribunal has set April 29 by which the 23 noted citizens should submit their reply as to why they shall not be punished for contempt of court. The three-member International Crimes Tribunal-2 led by Justice Obaidul Hassan passed the order on Thursday, reports BSS. Thursday was set for submitting the reply, but the second tribunal extended the time, accepting two petitions filed by the accused.


PM co-chairs session of Afro-Asia Summit

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina co-chaired the fourth plenary session on the second day of the Asian African Summit at Jakarta, Indonesia. Prime Minister of Egypt Ibrahim Mehbub was present as the co-chair of the session that began at 8:30am on Thursday, reports BSS. Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque were also present on the occasion.


Arrest warrant against Tarique

A Habiganj court has issued an arrest warrant against BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman in a defamation case for calling Bangabandhu a "big Razakar." Habiganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Nishat Sultana passed the order Thursday afternoon. The court also fixed June 23 for the next hearing of the case. On February 22, Mhohibur Rahman Mahi, organising secretary of Habiganj district unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, filed the case against Tarique for defaming Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, father of the nation.



Pakistan MPs call for PCB overhaul

Just after humiliating ODI series defeat at the hands of Bangladesh, Pakistan parliamentarians criticised the cricketers and cricket board, says Pakistan Today. According to the report, parliamentarians, during the NA session on Wednesday, called for an overhaul in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and demanded that a professional be appointed chairman. National Assembly Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah said: “People should be changed and professionals be brought in.”
