Asma Kibria passes away

Former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria's wife Asma Kibria has died at a city hospital on Monday morning. She was 78.

State Minister for Post and Telecommunication Tarana Halim, who is also the deceased’s niece, said: "She breathed her last at United Hospital around 9am Monday."

Shakib-Shishir become parents of a baby girl

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and his wife Ummey Ahmed Shishir have become parents of a baby girl.

The star cricketer revealed this on his official Facebook account on Monday afternoon.

Myanmar awaits results of landmark election

People in Myanmar are awaiting the results of the first openly contested national election in 25 years.

Votes are still being counted, and officials say preliminary results are now not expected until later on Monday.

2 siblings killed in Barisal road accident

Two siblings have been killed and five others injured in a collision between a microbus and pickup van in Shanuhar area under Warizpur upazila in Barisal.

The deceased are Abul Haoladar, 56, and Ismail Haoladar, 49, sons of Alfazuddin Haoladar of Hastishunda. Both of them are betel nut trader.

Woman stabbed to death in Khulna

A woman has been stabbed to death in Boira Charbati area in Khulna.

Shefali Rano Bonik, 55, was stabbed by some assailants on Sunday. She was the widow of former food department official late Gobindo Lal Bonik.
