Eid-ul-Fitr being celebrated

Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of Muslims which also marks the end of Ramadan fasting, is being celebrated across the country on Saturday amid religious fervour and much enthusiasm.

PM: Cabinet reshuffle a regular practice

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said periodical cabinet reshuffle in a parliamentary democracy was a normal practice and this may happen any time.

"Bringing changes in a cabinet is very much normal in a parliamentary democracy...it can be done any time...this happens," she told journalists after exchange of greetings with people from all walks of life on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr at her official residence Ganabhaban Saturday.

Khaleda wants end to political rivalries

Apparently inviting her arch rival Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to end their rivalries, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday stressed maintaining social relations by political parties for the greater good of the country.

"Our country is very potential and resourceful one. We all need to work together for its progress. To make that happen, we'll need to forget who is what," she said.

Habiganj mayor attacked in jail, BNP calls hartal

The BNP has called a dawn-to-dusk hartal for Sunday in Habiganj, protesting attack on the detained municipality Mayor, GK Gaus.

GK Gaus, an accused in former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria murder case came under an attack inside the district jail on Saturday, the eid day.

Rathajatra begins

Rathajatra, the car festival of Sri Jagannath Dev and one of the major festivals of the Hindu community, began on Saturday in a befitting manner.

The festival will come to an end with Ulto Rathajatra on July 26.

President hosts Eid reception

President Abdul Hamid has exchanged Eid greetings with high officials and distinguished guests at Bangabhaban Saturday morning.

Largest Eid congregation held at Sholakia Eidgah

The largest 188th Eid-ul-Fitr congregation of the country has been held on the historic Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj with participation of over 300,000 devotees amid stringent security measures.

IS car bomb kills 100 in Iraq on Eid day

A car bomb claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group has exploded in a busy market in an Iraqi town, killing at least 100 adults and children celebrating the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, police have said.
