A switchboard factory in Savar belonging to German technology giant Siemens has been reopened after being refurbished with state-of-the-art technology.
Michael Schultheiss, deputy head of mission, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangladesh inaugurated the Siemens Dhaka Switchboard Factory (SDSF) as the chief guest in the presence Prabal Bose, managing director, Siemens Bangladesh Ltd.
According to a press release, the switchboard factory spreads over an area of 1.76 sq km, and will manufacture high quality switchgear and control panels, reports UNB.
The factory has established the competence to manufacture products with 25-30%localization while retaining world-class quality standards.
In a separate statement, Peter Fahrenholtz, ambassador, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangladesh said, "Siemens has been a partner of the people of Bangladesh for more than 60 years, and today, we mark another important milestone of the company in Bangladesh.”
Speaking at the inauguration, Bose, Managing Director, Siemens Bangladesh Ltd, said, "We are happy that our new revamped Switchboard factory is now operational. With this, we have a strong and complete portfolio in the power distribution sector in Bangladesh. Our constant endeavour has been to bring high quality and innovative technology to Bangladesh with emphasis on local manufacturing."
