Ahmet Uzumcu, director general of Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapns (OPCW), inaugurated the seminar. Lt General Md Mahfuzur Rahman, Chairman, Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC), gave the welcome address. He was followed by Kamrul Ahsan, additional secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), who gave a vote of thanks.
A total of 40 participants attended the seminar, of which 20 were from SAARC and ASEAN countries and the remaining 20 were from various organisation and industries of Bangladesh. The aim of the seminar was to emphasise the best practices of the use of chemicals and thereby create a safe environment in the chemical field. The seiminar also highlighted the necessity of chemical safety management to build a safe and healthy world. Among others, representatives from the embassies of different countries and prominent personalities from various organisation were also present.
