The tribunal led by Justice Shahinur Islam passed the order after the prosecution filed a time petition.
While briefing reporters, Prosecutor Mokhlesur Rahman Badal said: “We were supposed to submit the formal charges today but as the investigation agency of the tribunal finalised the probe report on January 22, we needed more time. We informed the matter to the tribunal bench and prayed for an extension of three months to submit the formal charges.”
Of the accused, five are in jail and the rest are absconding.
The prosecutor said the investigation agency accused them of crimes against humanity – murder, mass murder, rape, confinement, torture, abduction, looting and arson.
