The International Crimes Tribunal yesterday framed five charges of crimes against humanity against five razakars from Moulvibazar.
The three-member tribunal led by Justice Anwarul Haque will start recording deposition of prosecution witnesses from January 15.
The accused are – Yunus Ahmed, 71, of Sonatiki; Ujer Ahmed Chowdhury, 63, of Goashpur village in Rajnagar; Shamsul Hossain Tarafder, 65, of Bagajura; and Nesar Ali, 75, and Mobarak Mia, 66, of Jamura upazila.
Of the accused, alleged al-Badr commander Shamsul, and razakars Nesar and Mobarak are on the run.
The charges framed against them include killing, looting, confinement, torture, abduction of freedom fighters and supporters of Bangladesh’s independence.
The tribunal’s investigation agency finished the probe against them on January 20 this year.
