Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to address the nation on Thursday on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr, which Bangladesh will celebrate on Friday.
"The prime minister will address the nation at 7:15pm on the occasion of Eid-ul Fitr," said her Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim on Wednesday, reports UNB.
State-owned Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television will simultaneously broadcast the prime minister’s address. Private television channels and radio stations will air it too.
Earlier in the evening, the National Moon Sighting Committee announced that Eid would be celebrated on Friday, as the Shawwal moon was not sighted anywhere in the country.

Saudi Arabia on Tuesday also decided to celebrate Eid on Thursday, along with many other Middle Eastern countries, as the Shawwal moon was not sighted.
Thousands of people of many villages in different districts of Bangladesh will also celebrate Eid on Thursday, in line with their age-old tradition of celebrating the holy day along with Saudi Arabia.
But, generally, Bangladesh celebrates Eid a day after it is observed in Saudi Arabia and some other Middle Eastern countries.
Meanwhile, violating the government directives against travelling amid the Covid-19 pandemic, thousands of people have already left the capital city to celebrate Eid with their families at their village homes.
