Coast Guards of Mongla Sea Port have detained at least 17 fishermen for illegally intruding into Bangladesh through the Bay of Bengal.
They were arrested on Wednesday morning from the Bay of Bengal, said Lt Shahriar Alam, operation officer of Mongla Coast Guard.
“We also seized 1000kgs of fish and a fishing trawler named FB Ma Shibani,” added the official.
The fishermen were later handed over to the Mongla police station around 6pm in the evening, confirmed the officer.
