Parliament passed “The Cantonment Bill, 2018” on Wednesday incorporating tougher punishment for delaying the construction of buildings and breaking traffic rules in cantonment areas.

Law Minister Anisul Huq piloted the bill during the parliament session and it was passed by voice vote.

Fines and fees for 43 different issues, including: exceeding the deadline for building construction, violating traffic rules, begging, and carrying arms and firecrackers in the areas under the Cantonment Board—have been substantially increased from the ones described in the 90-year-old law.
