A fire gutted 362 makeshift houses and 60 shops at Kutupalong Lambashia Rohingya camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar early Tuesday.
Confirming the matter, Ukhiya Fire Service Station master Emdadul Haque said the fire broke out at the camp around 5 am and soon spread.
“The actual cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed.
"A fire fighting unit rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after one hour of hectic effort with the help of local people."
Six Rohingya men were injured while extinguishing the fire.
Some Rohingyas told this correspondent that the fire might have originated from a gas cylinder blast as many of the Rohingya people who are using cylinders do not know how to use it properly.
