The Awami League will begin selling nomination forms to intending party candidates ahead of the upcoming elections in 25 municipalities.
The Ruling party will start its nomination forms distribution from Tuesday morning and it will continue till next Friday afternoon. Within this period aspirants will be able to collect and submit nomination forms at the Awami League president's political office in Dhanmondi.
A press release signed by Awami League Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua spelt out the details in the regard on Monday.
The press release also said that aspirants recommended by their own district Awami League committees would be able to collect party nomination forms.
Which 25 municipalities?
According to a BSS report, the first phase of municipality elections across the country will be held on December 28.
In the first phase, the election will be held in 25 municipalities. The last date of nomination paper submission is December 1. Nomination papers will be scrutinized by December 3, with the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers being December 10.
The 25 municipalities are Panchagarh in Panchagarh district, Pirganj in Thakurgaon, Fulbari in Dinajpur, Badargonj in Rangpur, Kurigram in Kurigram district, Putia and Katakhali in Rajshahi, Shahjadpur in Sirajganj, Chatmohar in Pabna, Khoksa in Kushtia, Chuadanga and Chalna in Khulna, Betagi in Barguna, Kuakata in Patuakhali, Wazirpur and Bakerganj in Barisal, Gafargaon in Mymensingh, Madan in Netrokona, Manikganj and Dhamrai in Dhaka, Sreepur in Gazipur, Derai in Sunamganj, Barolekha in Moulvibazar, Shayesthaganj in Habiganj and Sitakunda in Chittagong.
