The government is continuing multilateral discussions to find out permanent solutions to Rohingya crisis, he said
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said the farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina kept intact and reestablished all kinds of interests of the country at the international arena.
He said this in a statement strongly protesting and condemning the comments made by BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at a press conference on Friday.
In reply to BNP leader’s criticism over government’s efforts in Rohingya issue, Quader said Mirza Fakhrul is making misleading and fabricated comments to hide the truth as part of their political purpose.
The Bangladesh government is continuing bilateral, tripartite and multilateral discussions to find out permanent solutions to Rohingya crisis, he said.
The minister said Bangladesh raised strong demands at different international forums including the United Nations to resolve the Rohingya crisis and the government efforts are being continued.
Because of the diplomatic efforts of the Bangladesh government, different countries and the International Criminal Court (ICC) have been putting mounted pressure on Myanmar to bring back the Rohingya people, he said.
Before the coronavirus outbreak, he said, leaders of different countries visited Rohingya camps because of Bangladesh’s diplomatic successes.
The AL general secretary said Mirza Fakhrul’s inciting, incorrect and purpose-oriented comments may hinder the progress of the efforts to resolve the Rohingya crisis and destroy the peaceful atmosphere.
