'The judges did not think Khaleda is suffering from anything that cannot be treated in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University'
The law minister said on Friday the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division rejected bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia as it did not find her health condition to be critical.
"The appellate division of High Court after hearing arguments from both sides and reviewing Begum Zia's medical reports rejected her bail petition on Thursday,” said Anisul Huq while addressing a ceremony organized for laying the foundation stone of Akhaura Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre in Brahmanbaria on Friday.
“The judges did not think Khaleda is suffering from anything that cannot be treated in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University [BSMMU],” he added.
The minister said BNP leaders are opposing the High Court’s decision and deeming it unfair, however, if the verdict was in their favour they would not protest even if it were unethical.
Anisul Huq said the people do not want BNP-Jamaat in power again. He also warned the BNP leaders that he will not let the chaos of 2014-15 to repeat. “The country is prospering under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and it will in future too.”
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tahmina Akhtar Reina, Akhaura Municipality Mayor Takjil Khalifa Kajal, Executive Engineer Imtiaz Ahmed of Public Works Department, were also present at the foundation laying ceremony.
