There is no coordination in BNP, as the party leaders are making various remarks at different times, Quader says

The Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said BNP’s existence is now at stake due to weak leadership as the party is suffering from a stewardship crisis.

While talking about the contemporary issues, he made the remarks at a press conference in the secretariat on Monday.

He said: “Weak leadership has put BNP's existence at stake. After failing in everything, it seems BNP has declared an ‘undeclared war’ against the court.”

Quader, also the Awami League general secretary said there is no coordination in BNP, as the party leaders are making various remarks at different times, reports BSS.

He added that two senior BNP leaders have already left the party, and it is now difficult to say who will be the next to leave it.

About keeping 33% women in Awami League committee as per the Representation of the People Order (RPO), Quader said: “It has deadline till 2020. We are keenly thinking of increasing the women leadership and representation in the party.”

Replying to a question, the minister said it is the prime minister’s prerogative to reshuffle the cabinet. However, there is no possibility of a cabinet reshuffle before the national council of the Awami League, and there is very little possibility of that happening in this month too, he added.

About the preparation for the national council, Quader further said they are well prepared as councils of many district units have already been completed.

Councils in Gopalganj and Jhalakathi districts will be held on December 13 and December 18 respectively, he said.

About bringing changes in the central working committee in the upcoming council, Quader said there will be no change in the president post.

“Though our leader [Awami League President Sheikh Hasina] time and again wanted to leave the post of the party president, we will not let her go,” the minister added.

He said Awami League President Sheikh Hasina can bring change to any other post for the sake of the party, and everyone will accept that.
