BNP Vice Chairman and former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation Sadeque Hossain Khoka is undergoing treatment at a hospital in New York.

The party Secretary General, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, has urged all for the speedy recovery of Khoka, reports UNB.

He made the urge while attending a prayer session seeking early recovery of the critically ill leader.

The program was held on the ground floor of BNP's Naya Paltan central office in Dhaka on Friday attended by party leaders and activists, reports UNB.

Speaking at the program, Fakhrul said: “Khoka is now seriously ill. I talked to him on October 29 and he could not communicate properly. He urged me to tell all to pray for him."

At the program, leaders and activists also prayed for the speedy recovery of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Dhaka south City Unit President Habibunnabi Khan Sohel said their party leaders and activists are upset over the news of falling health condition of Khoka.

He called upon all to pray to Allah for him so that he can return to the party leaders and activists soon in Bangladesh’s "critical time."

The health condition of Khoka, who has long been receiving treatment in the USA for cancer, has turned critical a few days back.

He has been undergoing treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Khoka, also a former minister, was arrested days before the January 5 national election in 2014.

After being released on bail from jail, he was admitted to Birdem Hospital in Dhaka, but doctors could not exactly detect his health problem.

Later, he went to the USA on May 14, 2014 and has been receiving treatment there since then.
