The committees will be formed involving dedicated senior and young leader, he said
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said Awami League will only select legitimate and perfect individuals for the party’s new committees.
“No persons with imperfection will get entry in the new committees of the party,” he said at the extended meeting of Awami League Dhaka South City Unit, at its central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka yesterday, reports BSS.
Stating that the party cannot suffer for a few people, the minister said: “Those who believe in the politics of business are not required in the Awami League.”
Speaking as the chief guest, Quader, also minister for road, transport, and bridges, said Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina knows who should be picked as leaders of the organization.
Mentioning that the party requires decent and polite leaders and activists, Quader said: “The image of the government could not be tarnished due to the indecent behavior of any person.”
He said the committees will be formed involving the dedicated senior and young leader, having interest to infuse more dynamism into the party.
“People are the main source of Awami League’s strength. We assumed power by taking people’s mandate, not by negative politics,” he added.
He urged the city Awami League leaders and workers to work sincerely and get prepared so that Awami League nominated candidates can win in the next Chittagong and Dhaka cities elections.
“To this end, workers meeting must be held at ward and upazila levels,” Quader said.
During the reign of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, nobody escapes after committing offence.
Mentioning that the ongoing drives are being carried out to curb corruption in the country, Obaidul Quader said: “Even party men, are not being spared, organizational and administrative actions will be taken against him or her irrespective of power and pride.” The government will not consider anyone though it hurts the interest of anyone, he said.
Chaired by Awami League Dhaka South City Unit President Abul Hasnat, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Dhaka South City Mayor Sayeed Khokon and General Secretary of Awami League Dhaka South City Unit Shahe Alam Murad.
