Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has warned party leaders not to bring people from other parties into Awami League to earn extra money.

Quader, general secretary of Awami League, made this remark at the party’s extended meeting in Dhanmondi on Wednesday.

Quader said: “Don’t bring people from other parties to fill your own pockets. Remember, keeping  an empty shed is better keeping than evil cows.”

He said: “Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has always made it clear  that the party is going to be moulded with good people and none of the bad apples will get a chance to ruin the name of the party.”

Quader claimed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the most popular leader of the country after 1975, as she won the hearts of the people of the country when she completely decimated the illegal casino and drug businesses.

“Full phased committees of all units will be completed before the national council of Awami League,” confirmed Awami League general secretary.

Claiming that Workers Party leader Rashed Khan Menon’s activities are not going to hamper the 14-party alliance, Quader said: “Rashed Khan Menon has made a U-turn, claiming that the media has quoted him out of context.”
