The rally will protest the murder of Buet student Abrar Fahad,

Jatiya Oikya Front, led by Dr Kamal Hossain, will hold a public rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on October 22.

The political platform will hold the rally in protest of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) student Abrad Fahad murder.

Dr Kamal announced the rally after holding a meeting with Jatiya Oikya Front’s Steering Committee at his Motijheel chamber on Wednesday, reports UNB.

The alliance will also launch a mass signature campaign, both at home and abroad, to register its protest against the murder.

After the meeting, Dr Kamal told reporters: “We all are worried about Bangladesh’s situation.

“People are also concerned as different dreadful incidents have taken place recently.”

Stating that Abrar was killed in a planned way, he said: “This is really dangerous.”

Dr Kamal, also the president of Gono Forum, said they have discussed various incidents that have taken place recently across Bangladesh, including Abrar murder, and have decided to hold the public rally.

The alliance leaders will focus on Bangladesh’s overall situation, he said.

Abrar, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, was beaten to death inside Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology’s Sher-e-Bangla hall on October 7.

Some leaders of Chhatra League's Buet chapter have been accused of beating him to death for his alleged involvement with Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.
