Awami League government is determined to bring all casino owners to book, the minister claims
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has claimed that BNP introduced the casino culture in Bangladesh.
Quader, also the general secretary of the ruling Awami League party, made the remarks at a press briefing held at the Awami League's president's political office at Dhanmondi on Friday morning.
"The Awami League government is prepared to run multiple drives against corruption and criminals to uproot them," he said.
He further said: "We are monitoring the situation. Not only Chhatra League or Jubo League leaders, all will be brought under justice."
Quader also promised that this government is determined to bring all casino owners to book.
Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) raided at least six illegal casinos in Dhaka and arrested an Awami Jubo League leader, for allegedly running one of those establishments, on Wednesday.
Many of these casinos were reportedly run by many of the ruling party leaders and organizations, according to sources and locals.
During the raids, the elite force also seized around Tk40 lakh, gambling equipment and illegal liquor, among other items, from three of the casinos.
