‘I feel Dr Kamal Hossain is reluctant to lead Oikya Front’

Update : 08 Jul 2019, 03:04 PM

Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) President Abdul Kader Siddique has formally quit the Jatiya Oikya Front alliance.

"After the 11th parliamentary elections, Jatiya Oikya Front failed to exist in the field of Bangladesh’s politics, for which I will walk on a new way to serve the country's people," he said at a press conference held in National Press Club in Dhaka on Monday.

"I feel Dr Kamal Hossain is reluctant to lead Oikya Front. The alliance, which could not stand beside the people in times of need, is no more required," he added.

Jatiya Oikya Front was formed by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Gono Forum, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, and Nagorik Oikya on October 13, 2018, under the leadership of Dr Kamal Hossain.

KSJL formally joined the Oikya Front on November 5, and took part in the December 30 national election with BNP's symbol.
