The BNP student wing claimed the untoward incidents were caused by groups with vested interests
Banglaadesh Chhatra Dal defunct committee leaders have claimed that the group is not involved in the recent unpleasant incidents in front of the BNP central headquarters.
The protests were about cancelling the age limit and declaring the schedule again. They believe that this is the doing of a quarter with vested interests.
On Wednesday, Dhaka Metropolitan South Chhatra Dal President AA Zahir Uddin raised the claim in a news conference outside the BNP central office. Enraged leaders of the defunct Chhatra Dal committee organized the news conference.
Jahir Uddin Tuhin said in a written statement: "Some incidents during the restructuring process of Chhatra Dal has greatly hurt and shocked us. The image of the party has been tarnished in this incident. Nobody wanted this to happen."
He also said: "Anybody who is loyal to the party cannot do such a thing. We apologize for the incidents that have taken place due to the haphazard situations. At the same time, we vow to stay loyal to the decisions of the party and follow the directives of acting Chairman Tarique Rahman."
Tuhin said that: "We, the signees are not involved in the incident."
Ejmol Hossain Pilot, Iftiyar Rahman Kabir, Joydeb Joy, AA Jahir Uddin, Asaduzzaman Asad, Md Bayejid Arefin, Golam Azam Saikat, Mafizur Rahman Ashik, Md Rasel, Kazi Mokhtar Hossain and others signed on the written statement.
In context, BNP broke up the expired committee of Chattra Dal and imposed the condition of passing the SSC examination after 2000 on June 3. Since that, a group of leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal have been protesting and demanding the age limit be cancelled.
