He also claimed the government is prolonging her stay in jail through various ploys

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that the government is trying to kill their chairperson Khaleda Zia in jail without treatment.

"The government is pushing her towards death in jail," said Fakhrul at a press conference at BNP chairperson's Gulshan office on Friday.

Khaleda Zia's health condition has deteriorated further that she cannot move from bed now, claimed Fakhrul.

"She cannot go to the bathroom herself, without anyone's support. People should know how their leader is passing her days in jail," he furthered.

He also said the government is prolonging Khaleda Zia's stay in jail, creating obstacles to her release by resorting to various ploys.

Even, the government is trying to interfere in the court, he said adding: "Because they (Awami League) came to power casting fake ballots in the middle of the night before the election day on December 30. They have no connection with the people."

He said their chairperson is suffering from high blood sugar as her diabetes cannot be controlled even after using insulin... sugar level remains 15-16.

Mirza Fakhrul claimed that Khaleda Zia's shoulder pain increased. Se can not curl her legs. Her muscles are becoming ineffective.

Her left shoulder got frozen earlier, but now her right shoulder also got frozen, said Fakhrul adding that Khaleda Zia is also suffering from acute pain.

"She cannot even bend her legs," Fakhrul added.

He said their party wants the country's apex court to grant bail to Khaleda upholding her rights.

"We hope the government would grant her bail so that she can receive proper treatment as per her choice," he added.

Otherwise, he warned, the government will be held responsible if anything bad happens to Khaleda for lack of treatment.

Khaleda Zia has been receiving treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) since April 1 last year.
