The JaPa acting chairman also said Ershad announced the decision at Saturday’s press conference in order to avoid causing confusion in the party during his absence
Jatiya Party (JaPa) will continue to run under the directive of party Chairman HM Ershad, JaPa acting chairman GM Quader said on Sunday.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s Banani office, GM Quader, also Ershad’s brother, said the party chairman had handed him the responsibility of being acting chairman on Saturday as Ershad is unable to manage party affairs due to illness.
The JaPa acting chairman also said Ershad announced the decision at Saturday’s press conference in order to avoid causing confusion in the party during his absence, reports Bangla Tribune.
“Hussain Muhammad Ershad is our leader. As long as he is alive, Jatiya Party will run under his directives,” GM Quader said.
The acting chairman further said his main job is to hold the next council of the party.
“We have to do a lot more work for this. We will all work together to strengthen and unite the party,” he added, saying many senior leaders of JaPa had already called to congratulate him and assured that they would all work together for the party.
JaPa Joint Secretary General Shafikul Islam Shafik and Organising Secretary Monirul Islam Milon attended the press conference, among others.
