The BNP leader made the comments at a discussion organized by the Sammilito Chhatra Forum to mark the fourth death anniversary of BNP leader Nasir Uddin Ahmed Pintu
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday said the party's previous decision to not join parliament immediately after the general election on December 30 last year was wrong.
"We should keep in mind that nothing can be achieved by raising cheap slogans. Our acting chairman has taken the right decision, as we have to fight both in and outside parliament," he said.
The BNP leader made the comments at a discussion organized by the Sammilito Chhatra Forum to mark the fourth death anniversary of BNP leader Nasir Uddin Ahmed Pintu, at the National Press Club in Dhaka, reports UNB.
Fakhrul further said: "I do not have any hesitation in saying that our earlier decision of not going to parliament was not right at that moment. We must carry on our fight on all fronts."
Fakhrul also claimed that BNP is united and there is no rift in the party.
Furthermore, the BNP secretary general urged leaders of the party not to discuss party problems at public meetings. “I urge you all to discuss party problems in party forums only.”
