Dr Kamal remains Gono Forum president, Reza Kibria new GS

111-member central committee was announced on Sunday

Gono Forum has announced a 111-member central committee with Dr Kamal Hossain as president, and Dr Reza Kibria as general secretary.

Reza Kibria, son of former Awami League finance minister AMS Kibria, joined the opposition alliance Jatiya Oikya Front, ahead of the 11th parliamentary polls, and contested in the elections and lost.

Party's executive president, advocate Subrata Chowdhury announced the names at a press conference, held at the Press Club in Dhaka, on Sunday.

Prof Abu Sayeed and advocate Subrata Chowdhury have been appointed executive presidents of the new committee.

Awami League’s former state minister for information, Prof Sayeed also joined Gono Forum ahead of the 11th parliamentary elections, but failed to win a seat.

Gono Forum's new 13 member executive committee includes Mokabbir Khan, who joined parliament as the first lawmaker from the Jatiya Oikya Front, and former Awami League leader Amsaa Amin, who contested the 2001 elections from the Awami League, and last elections from JoF, but lost both times.

General secretary of the outgoing committee, Mostofa Mohsin Montu was also named in the new executive committee as a member.
