Quader discharged from Singapore hospital

He was released from Mount Elizabeth Hospital around 3pm on Friday

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has been discharged from the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.

“Obaidul Quader was released from the hospital around 3 pm," said Abu Naser Tipu, deputy principal information officer of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, on Friday. 

Tipu added: “He has recovered, but will be staying in Singapore for a few more days for medical follow-ups."

On March 3, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) with breathing complications. 

Later, tests revealed three blockages in his coronary artery and he was consequently flown to the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore the next day for better treatment. 

Quader underwent a bypass surgery there on March 20. On March 26, he was shifted to a cabin from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital after his condition improved.
