The BNP leader said Tasvir bought the flats when the building was constructed
The BNP, strongly criticised the government for trying to shift blame onto their party, by arresting party leader, Tasvir Ul Islam,in connection with the FR Tower fire incident.
"She (PM) has taken a strategy to shift blame onto the BNP, for whatever bad things happen. Tasvir Ul Islam, is the Kurigram BNP president, and our executive committee member. What's the relation between him and the fire in FR Tower, as he is neither the owner of the land nor its developer," said BNP senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, at a discussion meeting.
Jatiyatabadi Ulema Dal, arranged the program at BNP's Nayapaltan central office in memory of its late president, Hafez Abdul Malek, and founding General Secretary, Moazzem Hossain.
Detectives arrested Tasvir Ul Islam, one of the owner of the illegally built floors in the FR Tower, from his Baridhara home on Saturday night.
"The reason behind arresting Tasvir Ul Islam, is to show the people that BNP is involved in whatever bad thing happen. Tasvir Ul was arrested to shift the blame onto the BNP."
Rizvi alleged that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina did not take any step to save the people, ensure their security, and help and rescue people during any disaster. "She only tries to blame BNP for every incident as her party has no public support."

He questioned, why the government is trying to blame BNP leader Tasvir, when he only bought three flats from the developer company Rupayan. "You (PM) are not talking about the building developer, Rupayan, as its owner is a pro-government businessman."
The BNP leader said Tasvir bought the flats when the building was constructed. "He was arrested and blamed for the incident. But the developer of the building is at largel."
He claimed, Banani's Iqbal Tower was constructed violating the building code and design, but the government will not take any action against its owner since he belongs to the ruling party.
Rizvi alleged that 26 people were killed in FR Tower fire due to the failure of the government to ensure public safety, "We strongly condemn it."
He pointed out that, the government did not take any step to modernize the Fire Service and Civil Defence with modern life-saving equipment, while it has strengthened the capacity of law enforcers to "suppress the opposition".
"Sheikh Hasina is in power, riding on the police, RAB, and BGB. Sheequipped the law enforcers with guns to shoot BNP leaders and activists, but she didn't take measures to save lives of people," the BNP leader observed.
