He also said a thorough investigation should be done to identify the cause of the killings
Marking the 10th anniversary of the Pilkhana BDR carnage, on Monday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the Pilkhana massacre was not properly investigated.
The senior BNP leader alleged this after placing floral wreaths at the Banani military graveyard, in Dhaka, on Monday.
He also said a thorough investigation should be done to identify the exact cause of the killings.
Alleging that the killings were done to weaken the spirit of Bangladesh's army, he said: “As a part of a conspiracy to destroy the country’s defence system, 57 army officers were killed.”
Fakhrul furthered: “Commemorating the day, the people of the country will have to take an oath to restore democracy.”
Seniors leaders of the party—including BNP Vice-Chairman Maj (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed, former BNP minister Air Vice-Marshal Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, and Bangladesh Kallyan Party Chairman Major General (Retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim—were present, among others.
