The minister added that both BNP and Jamaat harbour a communal ideology
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said the ruling party is not concerned about BNP’s participation in the upcoming Upazila Parishad election.
Quader, who is also the road transport and bridges minister, commented this while speaking to reporters at the secretariat on Tuesday.
“We have invited everyone to participate in the local government election, Awami League is not concerned about BNP’s participation in the polls.”
Commenting on the political alliance of BNP and Jamaat, Quader said: “It is doubtful that BNP will discard its alliance with Jamaat, as both of these parties harbour a communal ideology.”
Acknowledging that discipline is yet to return to the highways, the minister said: “The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority initiative to bring discipline back to the highways will be reformed. The ministry will ask for suggestions in the next meeting.”
Adding that traffic by light vehicles on highways cannot be banned overnight, Quader pointed out that the local public representatives cannot deny their responsibility in this matter.
