Awami League announces 2 more names for reserved MP seats

The ruling party on Friday finalized the nominations of 41 candidates for the elections to the reserved seats for women in the 11th parliament

Awami League on Saturday announced the names of two more candidates contesting the elections to the reserved seats for women in the 11th parliament, slated for March 4.

The nominations of Nadia Islam Jolly (Pabna) and Ratna Ahmed (Natore) were finalized at a meeting between the party’s Parliamentary Board and Local Government Election Nomination Board at Ganabhaban.

Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, who also chairs the election nomination board, presided over the meeting.

Also at the meeting, Md Anwar Sadat Samrat was nominated as the party candidate contesting the election for the post of Panchagarh District Council chairman.

The ruling party on Friday finalized the nominations of 41 candidates for the elections to the reserved seats for women in the 11th parliament.

Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed announced the election schedule at a press conference on February 3.

As per the schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers is February 11, and the nomination papers will be scrutinized on February 12.

The deadline for withdrawal of candidature is February 16.
