Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to address the rally, where she will unveil plans for the country’s development
Awami League has completed its all preparations to hold a grand rally, to celebrate its landslide victory in 11th parliamentary election held on December 30, at the Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Saturday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will grace the program as chief guest.
During his visit to the Suhrawardy Udyan on Friday, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader: “The party president (Sheikh Hasina) will forecast the Awami League’s development plan till the year 2100. She will warn of tougher action against corruption, drugs and terrorism.”
The party wants make the rally a success by gathering thousands of party leaders and workers as well as common people and for that the party already had meeting with its associate bodies.
Quader had already attended several meetings and is overseeing the entire preparation process of the rally.
He attended a meeting of Jubo League Dhaka South unit on Wednesday at the party central office where he instructed party leaders and activists to ensure huge presence of party men and common people.
Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, who is also the party publicity and publication secretary, attended an extended meeting of Dhaka South unit on Friday morning where he urged leaders and activists to work hard to make the rally successful.
According to party insiders, government job holders will also attend the rally.
Transport workers and private universities students are expected to join the rally as well, where several renowned singers and artistes will perform.
Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, a senior Awami League leader said: “Around 10,000-15,000 transport workers are expected to join the rally.”
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in a press release issued on Thursday, mentioned a set of traffic rules for the day to ensure law and order and to ease traffic congestion as much as possible.
Certain detours may be established at various intersections – such as Bangla Motor, Shahbagh, Katabon, Nilkhet, and Palashifor the safe travel of the prime minister and others.
